Incarnate Solvent Abuse
(Tune down 2.5 steps to B)
Thanks to Glenn Rogers for most of this, and many thanks also to Gerrit Jan de Ripper for a lot of help (especially with Amott's lead). Thanks also to Brian Fleming for the suggestions!
Intro (approximately): Two measures of 6/8, one of 7/8
|--------------|-----------|------------| (I'm terrible at counting, so |--------------|-----------|------------| don't blame me if this is wrong...) |-------4------|---4---4---|-4---4---3--| |---5-3---5-3--|-----------|------------| |-2------------|-2---2---2-|---2---2----| |--------------|-----------|------------| e e e e e e e q e e e q e e e q |--------------|-----------|------------| Then play again with harmony up |--------------|-----------|------------| a P5, and of course a whammy bar |-------4------|---4---4---|-4---1---1--| dive (or pick slide, whatever) |---5-3---5-3--|-----------|------------| before the coolest four measure |-2------------|-2---2---2-|---2---2----| riff known to man... |--------------|-----------|------------| e e e e e e e q e e e q e e e q
And now 4/4... this gets played four times here...
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|------------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|------------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|------------------| |-5-----2-----2---|-5-----2-----2---|-5-----2-----2---|-5-----2-----2----| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|------------------| |---000---000---0-|---000---000---0-|---333---333---3-|---222---222---2--| e sse e sse e e sim.
Twice (the second time with Walker's unbelievably awesome vocals fading in)
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-------------3---|-----------------|-------------3---| |---5-4---5-4---4-|---5-4---5-4-1---|---5-4---5-4---4-|---5-4---5-4-1-4-| |-0-3-2-0-3-2-0-2-|-0-3-2-0-3-2-----|-0-3-2-0-3-2-0-2-|-0-3-2-0-3-2---2-| e e e e e e e e e e e e e e q e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e In the video, it looks like they're playing Gb5 F5 over the E root, so I'm not positive about this bit...
"Intenacious, intersecting..." etc. The second guitar does a G5 F#5 A5 bit after "culled..." (on the 2nd repetition of the riff)
The PM riff is played after that, but the second ending is a quarter note Bb5 again, into the "truculent shambles" bit... (rhythm approx?)
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |--5--------------|-(5)---------8---|-4---------------|-(4)------4-5----| |--3--------------|-(3)---------6---|-2---------------|-(2)------2-3----| w h. q w h e q.
Then the double-bass with the PM riff as before, into the faster bit:
This is probably a lot of 16th notes, and (hopefully) hammer-ons.
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |---------------2-|---------------5-|---------------2-|-320--------3--3-| |------------235--|------------235--|------------235--|----320-----3--3-| |-00000000235-----|-00000000235-----|-00000000235-----|-------320--1--1-|
Then a similar thing but instead of tremolo picking the open E string play E5 power chords instead (e q e rhythm, I think?), and there's just one F5 at the end. The last measure gets repeated a couple of times just before the solo.
Later, under the Amott solo:
|-----------------|--------------------|--------------------|-----------------| |-----------------|--------------------|--------------------|-----------------| |-----------------|--------------------|--------------------|-----------------| |-9-----9-----9---|-10-----10-----10---|-10-----10-----10---|-9-----9-----9---| |---777---7-7---7-|----777----7-7----7-|----666----6-6----6-|---666---6-6---6-| |-----------------|--------------------|--------------------|-----------------| e sse e e e e e sim. |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-7-----7-----7---|-8-----8-----8---|-8-----8-----8---|-7-----7-----7---| |---555---5-5---5-|---555---5-5---5-|---444---4-4---4-|---444---4-4---4-| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
These are just whole notes...
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-9---------------|-10--------------|-10--------------|-9---------------| |-7---------------|-7---------------|-6---------------|-6---------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-7---------------|-8---------------|-8---------------|-7---------------| |-5---------------|-5---------------|-4---------------|-4---------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
Then there's a riff after the solo I don't know, played over the top of this rhythm:
|-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |------------------------------------3--7-| |-3-3-2-----3-3-2-----3-3-2------3-3-3--7-| |-3-3-2-----3-3-2-----3-3-2------3-3-1--5-| |-1-1-0-----1-1-0-----1-1-0------1-1------| |------------------------------| |------------------------------| The last time follow it with an E5, and then |------------------------------| play the intro riff a couple of times again |-2--/7-6------2-3-2-0---------| (with the harmony the 2nd time). |-2--/8-7--------------3-2-0---| |-0--------------------------3-|
Steer's guitar solo ("Glue Stiffing"):
|-------------------------------------------------12-7-/10-| |-----------------------------------------------12---------| |--------------------------------7777/12-9-11-12-----------| |----------------7777999910101010--------------------------| |-7777999910101010-----------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |-15-17-19------151915-----------------------------| |---------17---------17-------------------20191719-| |----------------------16-----------161719---------| |------------------------17-----1719---------------| |--------------------------19----------------------| |--------------------------------------------------| |----12-17-12----15-12-15-14-15-14-121412---12-| |/16----------16--------------------------15---| |----------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------------| |-17-12----12-15-12----12-14-15-14-121412----12-| |-------15----------15-------------------/15----| |-----------------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------12-14-121412-| |------------------12-14-121412-14-15--------------| |14-15-14----14-15---------------------------------| |---------17---------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------------| V |15-14-12-14-121412----12-------17-15-12-15-121512----12-----15------12-| |-------------------15----12-15--------------------15----12-------------| |-----------------------------------------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
(note indicated by V, bend and release while picking several times)
Amott's solo ("Viscous Residue Snorting"):
